Lessons
Welcome to Flying K Horses LLC. We offer riding lessons for beginner to advanced riders looking to improve their general horse knowledge and gain confidence on the ground and in the saddle. Our instructors specialize in Horsemanship, Groundwork, Ranch and Cow horses.
If you are a new rider looking to begin lessons with us, please schedule a meeting prior to booking your first lesson. Our meetings include a tour of the facility as well as a discussion with one of our instructors to get an idea about what you’re looking for as well as give an outline on our teaching program.
Beginner Lesson
$50
If you are a first time rider, have less than a year of riding experience or have had some time off, our beginner lessons are for you! First time rider’s initial lesson will consist of learning basic horse and barn safety, how to brush a horse, haltering and leading a horse, basic horse anatomy, do’s and don’t of being around horses as well as a first look into horse behavior and why we do what we do as a horseman. Lessons following the initial lesson will begin the introduction to safely and correctly tacking up, mounting and dismounting, and beginner rider knowledge.
These lessons are offered one on one and will last about an hour.
Intermediate/Advanced Lesson
$50
If you are an established student with Flying K Horses or have taken lessons elsewhere and are looking for a different environment or level of instruction, our intermediate/advanced lessons are for you! As an intermediate/advanced rider you will already know the basics of handling and riding. These riders should be able to halter and lead, brush, tack, walk, trot, and lope. In these lessons we refine skills in the saddle such as balance and strength at each gait, making clean transitions, working advanced maneuvers, and preparation for the show pen.
These lessons are offered one on one and will last about an hour.

Do you have a horse of your own that you would like to grow, learn, and improve with? Our haul in lessons may be for you! Bring your own horse to work with one of our trainers on anything from groundwork, show preparation and everything in between.

KSU Group Lesson - $40
For our Kent State University Western riders.
1 hour group horsemanship lesson with 2-3 riders.
KSU Private Lesson - $50
For our Kent State University Western Riders.
1 hour private horsemanship lesson.
